Good afternoon!
Today is the day I finally completed Silver Surfer on the NES,
After having a poor internet connection over the past 2 days, be it because Virgin Media are Failbots when it comes to my village and say "Someone will be out as soon as possible" only to have it working for another 6 months before the same problem arises, now is that time and I decided to resort back to old skool console gaming and plugged in the old NES.
Upon choosing the game I went for the only game I have been trying to complete for 8 years now, Arcadia's Silver Surfer.
The difficulty setting on this game is not heard of in another game ever released.
The idea is that you pretty much have to know where to be at every split second in advance of it happening, a real test of memory, and a real pain in the arse to figure out...
So here I am, The legendary Silver Surfer, Servant of Galacticus for the 1,000,000th time, set out on my quest to save the universe collecting 5 pieces of the cosmic device, all of which are hidden beneath 5 areas consisting of 3 levels, With a supervillan standing as the boss on each 3rd level of each area. I have essentially 5 lives and 6 continues to clear all 15 levels (18 including my decent into the Magik Domain to collect the cosmic device from Mister Sinister), so 30 lives. Each time I die I loose all power ups I had previously collected, thus just making the section I died on even harder.
Today is a day that will go down in history for me, all the pieces of the cosmic device were returned safely to Galacticus, to whom I stole it off again very swiftly and the universe was saved, Somehow?! To be honest you never find out what the cosmic device was about to do, or what happens now I've stopped it, but all I know is, I have saved the universe.
Time Taken: 48 minutes
Deaths: 11 (2 Continues used)
As far as the internet could tell me with a few searches I stand in 2nd place as I could only find 1 other person who had completed it and they took 30minutes and 04 seconds.
I am a very happy chappy. ^^
*edit* Small grammatical errors.
